Mr Deo completed his higher surgical training (HST) in Orthopaedics and Trauma on the Oxford Programme in 2001; in his final year he was a Trauma Unit Registrar in Cape Town & an Orthopaedic Trauma Fellow at Vancouver General Hospital / University of British Columbia. His principal subspecialty is knee surgery, undertaking a comprehensive range of soft tissue surgery, including ACL reconstruction, MACI, osteotomies and arthroplasty knee surgery. He has specific expertise in partial, complex total & revision replacements and sports injuries. He is an experienced traumatologist in particular surgery of multiple injuries, surgery of complex lower limb peri-articular and long bone fractures. Research and Publications: Mr Deo's research to date has all been undertaken whilst working full time and thus far unfunded in the NHS. He has created an extensive body of observational clinical research documenting certain key features of what he considers good and/or novel practice, including observations and conclusions on clinical complexity and contemporary surgical treatments. As of mid-2016, he has undertaken as senior or lead investigator / author 23 peer reviewed publications, over 100 national or international presentations, 4 book chapters. One further project is accepted for WCORT 2016, UK PROMs 2016, Leaders in Healthcare UK November 2016 and three accepted at BOA 2016. Key topics include: Knee arthritis natural history, pain, outcome measures and treatments, in particular TKR, UKR, ACL surgery, clinical complexity (risk) classifications for TKR and hip fractures.
