The Wiltshire Cardiac Centre (situated on the 1st floor of the main hospital) cares for people with cardiac disease and many other heart problems.
The Unit provides close monitoring and high-dependency care for a variety of cardiac conditions. This includes the emergency management of heart attacks and the immediate and long term management of other cardiac conditions, including heart failure and heart arrhythmias.
They also look after patients who need close monitoring following procedures undertaken in the Cardiac Catheter Suite, such as:
- Pacemaker insertion including cardiac resynchronisation therapy for heart failure, physiological pacing (permanent His bundle pacing), defibrillator implants
The team work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams across the hospital but work particularly closely with colleagues from the Cardiac Rehabilitation Team and the Cardiac Catheter Suite.
The tests requested by the cardiologists are usually carried out by the dedicated team of experienced highly trained cardiac physiologists. These tests typically include:
- Echocardiograms (Cardiac Ultrasound)
- Heart Monitors
- Pacing Checks
- Exercise ECG
- Stress ECHO
If you are thinking about having one of these tests please contact Shalbourne Private Health Care and we will be able to direct your enquiry to one of our specialists.
